Hey,
How you doin’? Just channeling my inner Joey to check in with you. Hope your week’s been a chill-with just the right amount of mellow, unlike mine.
Two days ago, I was listening to a DOAC episode. Found it really fascinating to share with you. Jefferson Fisher’s way of dealing with people and behavioral tricks convinced me more than anything could ever. I think the magic lies in the voice tone and the calm aura he kept maintaining the whole time.
🌬️ Breathe before you speak
While having a conversation, if you take a pause to breathe and then answer then it shows that you’re attentive and thinking. For example, you’re asked, “Have you thought about the offer I made yesterday?” Take a breath and then answer like “ yes, I have. It’s quite mouth-watering, but the schedule won't be comfortable.”
👀 When insulted, ask this.
Another one, this is interesting. Suppose someone is insulting you or being hostile towards you. In that situation, most of us heat up and lash back. But if you silently just keep looking at him and then ask, “Can you repeat what you’ve said?” Then 90% cases show that people can't just repeat what a mean thing they’ve said.
🎭 Spotting a liar?
This one will help you for sure. How to identify the liars and make them uncomfortable? Liars supposedly use extreme words like ‘always’, ‘never’. Liars want to convince you with their narrative. The best way to deal with it silently look at them and repeat what they have said. That just ruins the sequence they have decided in their head.
Here’s a quote I loved from the episode:
Insecurities are very loud, confidence is quiet. -It hit me.
This one line just holds every power of a personality. Successful people are actually more composed as they believe in themselves.
Today’s a pocket-sized piece. Just wanted to share the summary, found it fascinating.
Let’s chat another day!
Thanks
Jessie.
